Acted as Doctor Shayna with Akhtar Suria FM for The Voice @ Klinik Kita, Taman Cempaka, Ampang

Salam,

On of the greatest highlights of this year was when I was chosen as an extra for Kabir Bhatia's Frontpage, Pilot Episode. Padan muka me for being so procrastinating, now I do not have the pics as proof of these highlights.

Nevertheless, I was Doctor Shayna (although when they aired the pilot episode on NTV7 or 8TV cannot recall, my name was changed to Doctor Shahreena perhaps because I was wearing the hijab). I had a scene with Suria FM's DJ, Akhtar (she's very thin with big hair and very nice and friendly) at Klinik Kita. Akhtar's role, Rebecca I think (I even asked her are you Malay in these series, she just shrugged sheepishly yes I know the name Rebecca right) was recovering from her father's sexual abuse in her younger years, so she came to me saying that she would no longer be dependant of the anti-depression pills anymore.

It was just a short scene but I had more lines like the time I was in Sadiq & Co. so I was happy. All the crews were very nice and supportive and the cameraman said I did not give any trouble because I did not err any on my lines. Just that Kabir is such a perfectionist, he had many takes just to have different camera angles. I had a good advice when we rehearsed and he did not quite like the way I delivered my lines, he said "People don't talk that way in everyday conversations." Yikes! So alhamdulillah I managed to be more natural.

Best part of all, when I left and gave my business cards to them, Kabir even stopped me in my tracks just to say:

"Suraya, you are such a beautiful girl."

It's from Kabir Bhatia you all, enough said. :p

Engagement Make-up @ Batu 8 1/2, Gombak, Selangor

Salam,

Shasha, this 18 year old sweet young lady here is a friend of mine, so it would always be hillarious to do a make-over for your own friend since there would be endless chatting and laughing, mostly because she was getting more and more nervous by the minute. Especially due to the hot weather and guests kept coming in, so everybody way sweating. Not to fret, trying to cool down a nervous future fiancée is also a part of my job :)

As for the look, she wanted to have a classic Malay lady look. So I applied classical shades such as gold eyeshadow and reddish lipstick on her. As for the hair, I did curls for her and put a white rose in her hair (I am a big fan of having flowers in the hair). Of course a veil completes the whole look.

Akad Nikah (Solemnization Ceremony) Make-up @ Taman Tun Dr. Ismail

Salam,

After having such a long day yesterday, with the Wanita Hari Ini shoot in the noon and my nieces' birthday party till early morning, I really thought I lost all my energy. However duty calls and after dawn I had to rush to TTDI to attend my client to do her bridal make-up.

It was an emotional Akad Nikah / Solemnization ceremony for my client here because she had a tragic first marriage. I had tears in my eyes when I heard her letting it out but of course I had to be professional to do my best in giving her the best look. After she was completely ready, her adorable daughter did not even recognise her own mother! Well I felt good and bad at the same time for that :p

As for my client here, well as fated by Allah and we would never know how He decides on our lives, she was hitched with her old schoolmate that she never had thought would be her husband. I pray for your happiness with your husband as well as for your daughter, may this initiate a new beautiful beginning for you.

Surprise Slumber Birthday Party for my darling nieces, the M&Ms! @ PNB Darby Park, Jalan Ampang, KL

Salam,

The date I am updating this post is actually 31st October 2009 and yes my personal blog has been pending for more than a year. I kept procrastinating in updating my blog because I had a busy and hectic time which did not allow me to prioritize my blog. This semester is my final semester insha Allah in IIUM, and I went for Hajj last year altogether with launching my new online boutique Abaya Suraya in February 2009 so I was busy managing both my website and online boutique, so my personal blog was silent in hiatus.

Added up by the fact I was introduced to the Wedding Dash game by my 9 year old cousin, Athirah and I became addicted to it. When I knew another cousin of mine Athiyah has the game in her laptop, I transferred the game to my external hard disk (which had all the photos for my blog) and guess what? I successfully corrupted the hard disk, thanks to my addiction to Wedding Dash.

Now I am trying to pick up the pieces by still updating the drafts I have saved previously, hopefully getting the help from the pics I have uploaded on Facebook so I hope I will somehow manage to update my blog. I had a memorable 2008, so I just have to be a little patient (I hope some of you will too) before my blog can live in the present time space.

Now back to the past..

On Friday, 23rd May 2008 I had a really big day actually where I had the live shoot for Wanita Hari Ini where I had to testify the benefits of Brand's Prune Essence in the capacity of a law student cum freelance make-up artiste, therefore the Prune Essence assists me in sustaining my balance as a person with a hectic schedule. UNFORTUNATELY, you know what I have lost my photos with Sharifah Shawati, Atie AF who were also the guests along with me for the segment. Anyway I had the shoot at Great Eastern Mall, Ampang. You know what, I had been on tv before but that was my first live telecast seriously when the crew made the countdown and they said 'ON AIR' I COULD FEEL THAT MY CHEEKS WERE SHAKING. Seriously, live telecast really made me nervous compared to pre-recorded dramas or programmes where you can cut and repeat.

Ok moving on, for the previous few weeks my sister and I had been busy helping my eldest female cousin (yet the craziest) Kak Nurul to prep the surprise birthday party for her beautiful girls Misha who was turning 7 and Aminda who was turning 5. She planned to have it as a Slumber Party at the PNB Darby Park's spacious suite so it turned out really nice. Right after the Wanita Hari Ini shoot, I rushed with my sister to meet her to prep the place. Basically it was not that difficult because we have packed the party gifts, and the place was beautifully and of course in a fun way was decorated with colourful ballons by Party Buzz or Balloon Buzz can't recall its name.

Seriously it was exhausting for Deena and even Kak Nurul to get the perfect shot of jumping.

Shiny colourful balloons which remind me of giant M&M's chocolates.

My crazy cool cousin, Kak Nurul.

Yup, Nana again.

Erkk?

Ha..that's better, sweeter :)

In our pajamas, the adults are ready to PARTAYYY!

The girls were ushered into a big, loud 'Surprise!' :p

It was really exciting to see the girls entering the room with friends and family waiting to surprise them. Especially Misha who is matured for a 7 year old, was all touched by the preparations. Both of them are sweet darlings, they deserve such a party.

The happy family, Kak Nurul & Abang AJ with their darling daughters.

The girls with Misha's schoolmates. Mostly from the CBN Gymastics Team. These girls have names which are almost too similar such as Amisha, Akeesha, Alisya, Ateena, Arisha etc.

I love this pic. It is just so colourful especially with the Barbie birthday cakes to complete the girlish night.

Two very beloved siblings. my dearest Misha & Minda.

After the kids played Twister (it was a really long session since the girls are CBN's Gymnasts, so everybody was veyr flexible and had a long time hanging on in the game), we asked the boys to join the girls doing a colouring session. Winners of course received the prizes. :)

Nana just could not get away from playing with the balloons. :p

CBN's Gymnasts. Misha still needs to improve on her split.

We love you girls =)

Night Make-up @ Mahallah Asiah, IIUM (Friday, 16th May 2008)

My client here was going out for a dinner with her friends at The Curve, Damansara to celebrate her belated birthday. Of course as the birthday girl she wouldn't want to look ordinary so she contacted me to do her make-up for that special occassion :)

Surveying for M&M's birthday party stuffs (Thursday, 15th May 2008)

Salam,
My cousin Kak Nurul planned to throw a surprise birthday party for her girls Misha & Minda. She asked for my sister and I to help her to prepare for the party. I went with her to Balloon Buzz located at Great Eastern Mall to shop for the party goodies as well as for decorations.

Balloon Buzz @ Lower Ground, Great Eastern Mall, Ampang.

Attractive (and pricey for me but of course they are rare) balloons for various occassions.

Birthday candles

Costumes for parties (especially masks and headgears).

Colourful plastic eating utensils to match the theme colour of your party.

Kak Nurul then treated me with coffee from Starbuck's and we met her good friend Angela to talk about the party.

Later we fetched Misha from school not knowing we were busy preparing a party for her.

Misha fooling around with my phone's camera.

Then we went to Bangsar Shopping Centre and Uptown Bangsar to find the coolest cake for the birthday girls however nothing was attractive enough for us. Later on, we went to Ikano Damansara to check out more party flavours.

Another party store.

This is a stall which offers very modern, creative cake creations made from Frosted Icing. It's called Sweet Obsessions. Of course the prices are quite an eye-opener but definitely when it's artistic, and rare to find at other places, you have to pay more than the ordinary ones.

Kids' Birthday Cakes

A crown for a princess.

Adorable carousel.

Out of the vanity box, as a make-up artiste, I like :)

Charm bracelet.

Oh I SOOO LOVE this one!

Combined with matching cupcakes and the most special feature is of course the dolls of the bride and groom.

This one is very artistice too for Carlo Rino.

Very classy crown.

The one at the display.
