Day 2 - Jom Makan Halal! @ D'Anjung Malaysia, Parkson Food Court, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (Thursday, 31st December 2009)

Salam,

Today again we dropped by at Parkson Saigon's Food Court to have lunch. This time we chose a Malaysian food kiosk belongs to a Malaysian living in Vietnam called

D'Anjung Malaysia, a Taste of Malaysian Cuisine.

D'Anjung Malaysia or D'Anjung serves a variety of typical mixed rice selection. They even sell Nasi Lemak bungkus here. I like to highlight that this brand is also certified by JAKIM. =)

Lauk-Pauk for Nasi Campur (Mixed Rice) such as Ikan Goreng (Fried Fish), Ikan Keli Goreng Berlada (Chilli Fried Catfish), Chicken Rendang, Mixed Vegetables, Fried Egg in Tomato Gravy, Chicken Curry and so on.

Yes the cool thing about the food served at this food court, I think it is a norm in Vietnam, they will reheat your food selection before they serve it at your table. Believe it or not, they have waiters and waitresses to do this at the Food Court which I find quite convenient and nice since it's not a totally self-service experience. I also like the pretty and sweet hijab-wearing Vietnamese Muslim girl working at the kiosk.

Nana chose steamed rice with fried egg in tomato gravy and potatoes and beef in soy sauce.

As for me, steamed rice with egg and chicken rendang.

The price for our lunch here is about 50,000 - 60,000 VND each or approximately RM 10-12 per plate. See how I said the conversion makes the food expensive?

Then when we were almost done with our lunch, we saw a group of Malaysians working here about to have lunch. We approached a woman in the group, and she informed us that she is working at Parkson Saigon. We asked her for info of any other nearby halal restaurants especially food stalls for us to try something traditionally Vietnamese. She was kind enough to jot down the adresses and even some brief map on Nana's notebook. Didn't get her name though, but we greatly thank her =)

Oh yes after we had lunch, we shopped for some necessities at the supermarket in Parkson. Before you enter the supermarket here, you must keep your handbags at the lockers as to prevent from theft.

Whenever I go abroad, I am always keen to check out the toiletries which may not be available in Malaysia.

Below were some of the liquid bath cream that caught my eyes.

Liquid bath cream from branded names sold at this supermarket; Esprit, Miss Sixty, GAP. These ones are sold below VND 150,000 so that is approximately below RM 30.00.

These were the sexier selections, so sensual in fact seeing from the photos on them. A brand I never heard called Tesori d'Oriente offering a selection of Grecian, Egyptian and Oriental bath potion. VND 135,000.

Slightly more expensive, from Beckham and Kylie Minogue. Still below RM 40.00.

Since mostly were sealed I could not smell the fragrances. However I just bought this red Rock Muse from Miss Sixty. When I used it, naaahhh it wasn't that nice, smelt strong in a musky way.

Their bottled drinks. Mostly sold below VND 10,000. Meaning that they were sold below RM 2.00.

The infamous Dragon Fruit, originated from Vietnam of course. =)
