Day 1 - Jom Check In @ Sunway Hotel Georgetown, Georgetown, Pulau Pinang (November 2011)

Assalamualaikum,

Yes alhamdulillah we are done with dinner so it's time for us to check in at our hotel. Since we are staying at Georgetown, the capital city of Penang to be close to our cousins, we chose to stay for 4 days and 3 nights at Sunway Hotel Georgetown.

The address :
33, New Lane (Off Macalister Road),
10400, Pulau Pinang.
Tel : 04-229 9988

Stars : Four (4)

We booked one of the Deluxe e-Rooms which has an option to choose either an extra large king-sized bed or a pair of single beds. According to its hotel description, Besides customary hotel conveniences such as writing desks, colour TVs with cable channels, coffee and tea-making facilities, hairdryers, electronic safes and attached bathrooms, there’s unlimited high-speed internet access. And that is actually true, we were happy with the speed of its wifi. *happy guest beaming*

We made our booking through Agoda and the total cost was RM 700++ including an extra bed. While checking in, we had to pay deposit of RM 200 which was returned when we checked out.

The bathroom.

Georgetown from our room.

Georgetown's landmark, Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak (KOMTAR).

Penang's landmark, the Penang bridge that connects the mainland to the island.

On the down side,  although it is a 4 stars hotel, we were quite disappointed to discover that they could not send us iron and ironing board when we needed them. Instead we had to go (actually me to iron for my family) to one of the levels to go to the ironing room. And nearby, I discovered where they keep the extra beds. Hmmm. Yes so since I had to iron at another place so you can just imagine how I will hold ironed hijabs back to my room, in the elevator, seen by other guests, with the hopes for them not to crease again? Yes. Pathetic.

Its Ironing Room.

Also another disappointment was,  the swimming pool was extremely small, I felt sad to cram in with other guests in the pool. Then I tried to go to the gym, with the hopes to burn of some calories while piling up more calories in Penang, I was astonished to see about only 3-4 machines belong to the 80's at the small room regarded as the Gym. *sigh* There were 3 men at the Gym facing the window or any wall since there was no TV or music at all (I was not even sure about Air Cond) I opined that it was pointless to paste motivational mottos on its wall. So I just forgot my attempt to exercise and resorted to more eating. Hey it is not even my fault right?? I did try and brought my work out clothes and shoes. *serious expression*

A pic of Nana at the entrance on our last day there.

Staying here was okay, nothing fancy but it was nice because it was clean and cosy. Not much to complain except for the gym, swimming pool and ironing room. Ok, thanks, bye.

Thanks for reading guys! =)

XOXO,
Sue
