Kelab Mawarku Shah Alam Charity Dinner @ Kelab Selangor, Shah Alam, Selangor. (Friday, 5th March 2010)

Salam,

Tonight my family and I attended the Kelab Mawarku (My Rose Club) Charity Dinner, to support the President who is Ummi's youngest sister, Hajjah Roslin @ Aunty Lin. Kelab Mawarku is a club involved by women who are UMNO members in Shah Alam. We attended together with Aunty Lin's family.

Malam Sejambak Mawar .. Night of A Bouquet of Roses .. the theme for the night. Yup some young dancers performing Malay traditional dance.

My pretty sister Deena.

Our table. =)

See how fattened up I was (was or still is??) in this photo..yuck! (but still eating like a monster later).

The crowd, mostly the family members of the members, giving support to their wives and mothers.

My aunty giving the President's speech. Hey somebody please remove the bouquet of flowers in front of her!!

Ahhh now that's better... =) Hahaha seriously it was hillarious before it was removed because it was like listening to someone's voice on radio or something.

Kelab Mawarku launched their charity fund to help the less fortunate especially single mothers.

Nom Nom time!!! Mak Long's hand initiated our dining session. Awesome food prepared by Kelab Selangor. =)

Now it's the fashion show time. The emcee, a Dato' (a male Dato') who really acted like a double to Aznil Haji Nawawi coached the performance for the night, including the dance performances to the fashion show. The collection here comes from his bridal boutique.

The collection showed the different traditional costumes of Malay women from different states. The designs were nice, but we thought that the colours could be better, like this one above looked like it came from the 80's. Ummi said she loved all the clothes, so that convinced our hunch that they really made for the 80's.

Ok SERIOUSLY the fashion show took a long time (since it was sponsored) and Nana & I could not remember how many times we went to the restroom just to kill time..

Yes finally they wrapped the fashion show!

Now it's time for some musical entertainment (and this is not including the ever continuos singing from the emcee, really he really took advantage of 'entertaining' us with his non-stop singing). Luckily there was a pro singer, with a wonderful voice of course, Sarah Raisuddin. =)

She performed Big Spender as well as other 2 songs. I forgot whether she sang any of her hit tunes but for me, any singer must sing their own songs because the fans love them for their songs. Then we won some lucky draw stuff (which is very rare for us to win) and it was a good, family night for us. =)

Hang-Out with Nana's Petrosains Buddies @ Time Square (Tuesday, 2nd February 2010)

Salam,

Today Nana was very kind to invite me to tag along with her and hang out with her friends from Petrosains. Yes the avid volunteer she is, besides being a volunteer at Rakan IJN, she also has fun with friends her age by volunteering at Petrosains, the Science Centre at KLCC. Basically below are photos of us just spending time together, as usual =D

At the Bowling Centre, I didn't bowl of course wearing my Abaya. Thee hee.

With the whole Jin-Gang (the way Ummi always says) at the Bowling Centre. From left; Hery, Iffa, Emma, Me. In white is Dowl, in green is Mira, at the back from left, Zam, Iryn & Kimi (though Nana, Ida & I prefer to call him Luqman coz he seems more suitable with that name *LOL*). Yes Nana Petrosains friends are really close-knit to each other and they hang out as much as they possible can. This time, since Dowl and Mira were leaving for Australia to resume their studies.

Iryn giving his best pose.. not necessarily best shot haha!

Smile!

Iryn again.

Yes now some poses in front of Times Square.

Oh so Stylo! Stylo ke?? Hahaha.

Roar! My cute sister with the Golden Dragon.

Oh yes, firstly you saw her wearing a beret. Now a Lady Gaga, Madonna-ish cute hat hairclip. Just bought it at one of the shops, and since Nana is my doll, she wore it right away. =)

Nana posing on a rickshaw which was a part of the Chinese New Year decor, old-skool coolness.

Now she poses behind one of the mock windows.

Check out the Old Chinatown atmosphere at the concourse area. I must say Times Square's CNY decor was my favourite this year compared to other malls.

Cabaret-like stage, with lanterns lit. They even played some old-skool Chinese tunes perhaps from the past half century. Cool!

Now it's the time for us to sing some karaoke!

Yes I love this pic, it's like they were taken separately and super-imposed together in one pic. =D

Check me out, karaokeing wearing an Abaya. Weird heh but that's what I wear =D

Yes, my mesti nyanyi (must sing) number, Ku Milikmu by Siti Nurhaliza.

Enjoying myself. Heh!

Anugerah Juara Lagu (AJL) Ke-24 - The Best AJL So Far! @ Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil, KL. (Sunday, 10th January 2010)

A blurry image of the ticket.

Salam,

Ok I know that Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke-24 is old news by now. However I just want to share with you the fact that I watched it live at the stadium (the 2nd time in fact, the first one was 2 years back when Estranged won Juara Lagu with Itu Kamu) together my big family, that is included Tok Ayah's family. Thank you Tok Ayah for always providing us with free tickets and free home-cooked food later in his van after the show.

This year's event of course seen more competition among the younger, newer artistes including those from the Indie stream in fact last 2 years in a row were won by 2 Indie bands namely Estranged and Meet Uncle Hussein with Lagu Untukmu (I really wished I was at the stadium that year because I cried watching them won on TV, REALLY REALLY EXTREMELY OVERWHELMED when they won.) This year though, Aizat won with Pete Teo's composition of Pergi from the OST of Allahyarham Yasmin Ahmad's best film in my opinion, Talentime.

Though all songs and performances were incredibly fantastic and over the top, apart from Tomok and Hafiz's so-so nothing new performances, I felt quite bad that since this time there is no longer division of categories based on the music genre, means that Ethnic music or Traditional Malay music hardly could be in the finals. Really hope that next year, traditional music goers will work harder and create something really outstanding so they could be the modern, Western-originated music insha Allah.

Yes for me, though almost everybody competing really create a robust pandemonium in the stadium, my MOST FAVOURITE performance for the night was the cover version of Lagu Untukmu sang by Datuk Siti Nurhaliza cum her duet with its original singer on the same song, Azlan now the frontman of Azlan and the Typewriter. Magnificent. Incredible. Even my words are merely understating the real uplifting vibe they sent to us throughout the performance. Numero Uno! Oh yes not to leave out the Retro Decade segment for the closing performances and my most favourite was definitely the ever energetic Search representing the 80's decade, Pawana is still very haunting as before. =)

Quite sensitive issue here but may be true was the Freemason issue, which was too apparent but I think you should search religious blogs to know about this. One shocking but enlightening revelation about the relation of Freemasonry and AJL 24 could be read here: http://jejakitinggalanrasul.blogspot.com/2010/01/freemasonry.html#more . Freaking shocking, TV3 denied of course, but too many co-incidences are a bit too lame for me. Of course if you are an avid fan of The Arrivals video series on Youtube, the similarities and 'co-incidences' were uncanny. The ghost seen above the roof railing during Faizal Tahir's performance was also a pretty hot news, I believe the ghost was real based on its very high location.

Anyway despite all the controversy congratulations TV3 and the whole responsible crew for conducting the best AJL yet. =)

Idayu and green with her brother Daniel and their aunts.

Idayu, Nana and very chubby me. Seriously I felt a pang of horror looking at how fat I was (hopefully) in this pic! Yes we were queueing for almost ONE HOUR to enter the stadium.

Cute pic of Idayu & Nana waiting for the event to start.

Mama Intan (Idayu's mum) and her youngest child, the ever mischievous Hakim.

Check out the crowd in the stadium.

I think the lighting and stage setting for this year's AJL was the best.

Hujan performing AkuStatik while the Hujan Rangers dancing as though they were at a gig. =)

A dark photo of Idayu and her aunt, nevermind as long as the AJL 24 logo is apparent! =D
