Salam,
After spending a great fun time with Mira, I proceeded my plans with another bestfriend of ours Shazana to sleep over at Stadium MSN at Bukit Jalil. Mira was quite offended that we did not invite her but it was because she just had her brother's wedding so she should have to spend more time with her family and her new sis-in-law or else her mum would be annoyed with us so next time k Mira? :)
Alright, we headed to Stadium MSN with more of Sha's friends from UM to show some support for the National Cancer Society. Relay for Life is actually an event where you have to pay 10 bucks to join the activities and it's all for a good cause, all collection be it from the ticket fees to the food and other booths' collection will be donated to the society. The biggest aim is for all participants to have as many laps around the field overnight till the next morning as a symbol of support that you are fighting cancer together with the patients.
It's important for me to join Sha because her beloved grandmother (whom she fondly called Dada, the zestiest old woman anyone could have known I bet, so full of life and energy and literally not afraid of anything) lost the battle of cancer recently. I just felt that cancer was a reason for Allah to make her finally end her life, because she was such an energetic, healthy person and at least I think she had a long, beautiful and so full of experience life. This event was participated mostly by family members whom have lost their loved ones due to cancer and this event is a way for them to show remembrance to their loved ones of course.
With Sha's friends from UM, a great bunch of girls. =)
The event started in the evening, and when we reached there many musical performances have started already such as performances by singers, dancers and even the hillarious drag queen contest. Suria FM also showed great support by bringing local celebrities such as Aizat and Dina as well as their anchors to perform that night. Other celebrities that came to support were Sazzy Falak and more but I could not remember them all. One thing I noticed was that there were more Christians, Buddhists and Hindus (even Atheists in fact) and I really hope more Muslims would support this kind of event. Alhamdulillah when this event was known more to the public, more people came to the same event the next year and I heard more of my Malay friends showed their enthusiasm for this event as well.
The biggest highlight of the night was when anyone may purchase as many luminars at a price of RM 1 each. A luminar is only a white lunch paper bag where you may decorate them as you like, and during midnight the volunteers would light up candles in them so the designs would illuminate in the dark. Many of the designs warmed my heart till tears welled up in my eyes. For example Shazana made a personal note to her Dada and I saw others small children writing some personal notes telling how much they missed their lost mothers, grandparents etc. Not forgetting some men and women dedicated the luminars for their spouses whom also lost the battle of cancer.
May all their souls rest in peace.
Lights of Love
Shazana and I.
Besides that there was a contest for the most beautiful tent. We basically just planned to stay awake all night (as if) without preparing any tents, sleepings bags, mats not even newspapers. We had the hillarious company of Sha's actor friend, we call him Abang Megat who made us laugh all night with his balloon helium-laugh (even made us laughed with his ghost stories but I was starting to be sleepy already). Yup we were fortunate to meet our old friends from our high school, SMK Taman Melawati amongst them were Nadhirah and Aliah and they were kind enough to invite us to hang out at their nicely decorated tent.

With some of our schoolmates at their tent.
Sha nagged to me a little for sleeping, when she instead on and off continued doing laps of walks. Cayalah Sha hehe. I cannot recall how many times I did the laps, but I can bet you it's a figure which no one can be proud of :p But hey I was there to show some support at least! I did not know there was yoga session as the morning exercise, but I did try for pocho-pocho for the first time though I was terrible.

Anyways I had such a lovely time with Sha and her friends. Thanks girls for inviting me to join ya all. =)
