Salam,
After my Company Law I test finished at about 9 pm, and then struggling to find cases for my Islamic Criminal Law assignment, finally I managed to join my Matric ex-roomate cum best friend Fairuz to buy dinner at Convest Hill.
We got together that evening to welcome another ex-roomate Farah, who's going to participate in the Convest Exhibition. We call her Kak Far because when the 3 of us were roomates including Alina, she happens to be the eldest among us despite the fact that she is the smallest in size among us.
Fairuz waiting for Kak Far's arrival
Alina could not join us unfortunately, but Yuz and I were ecstatic to welcome Kak Far. Although she is a UIA student as well, but since she is taking up Bio-Medical, that is the reason she had to separate from us to study in the Kuantan campus.
When Kak Far finally arrived at Yuz's hostel ie Halimah, she looked super sleepy but excited to meet us as well. For me, meeting her meant a lot because I missed her terribly even though I had to return home because it was running late.
Hmm.. I don't have much to say here, but enough said that they are among my most cherished friends I have ever been blessed with. I was the only one in the room who was not originated from a religious school, still they treated me in an incredible way. They are the example of the religious school students whom do not underestimate the religious background of those who are not among them. You know how annoying the way of these warak people can be when they meet those people whom they think are just not at par to their religious knowledge.
I still remember when we went for solat at a musolla in Sungei Wang Plaza, there came a girl not wearing hijab, wearing quite skimpy clothes but still performed her obligations to Allah. These girlfriends of mine smiled to each other when the girl left, and said "Mari kita doakan satu hari dia dapat hidayah dari Allah supaya dia tutup aurat nanti. (Let us pray that one day she will receive the calling of Allah for her to cover her Aurah)." I was touched because I heard from some of my friends, who do not wear Hijab/scarf received insulting looks from those who think they are more religious.
I was also quite nervous at first to wear make-up when I became their roomate, but then they said they always like looking at me wearing make-up, only they could not carry the look on themselves if they do, just as long as I cover my aurah. They also encouraged me to be the Imaamah of our congregational prayers sometimes, though I know my Quranic recitation was not as advanced nor as good as them. They also liked to tease me wearing my high-heel boots and called me Puss in the Boots, but they were the most excited when I won Queen of the Night at my faculty's annual dinner; not a surprise because they couldn't take their hands of me to help me get ready for the night so that I could look my best.
And Kak Far provided us with Winter Sonata DVD collection, where it was like our staple entertainment whenever we enjoyed our nasi bungkus in the room. And Kak Far, I still feel guilty when I made u watched the lead actor of Hot Chick showing his butt; when you got furious and said "Nanti lemah ingatan! (It will weaken my memory!)" then marched to your bed reading yor Biology textbook. Yuz and I was laughing so hard looking at ur piety, then we felt guilty..but ok it is still funny until now. And what about the time we told each other ghost stories when our hostel, Mahalah Zainab Jahsyi had a black-out, till it crept ourselves out and we screamed like lunatics :p
Last but not least, I will never ever forget the time all of you held me tightly when I announced that my parents just divorced on that Saturday in March. I can still remember how you girls cried with me absorbing the pain that I had though I tried to laugh it off in between my tears, trying to show that I was strong, though I know I was not that strong, but that's just how I protect myself, you know how stubborn I am. And yes, if you remember a week before I left for main campus while the three of you had to remain for a few more semesters in the matric? That night after the Hisbah gathering, the four of us sat in a circle in the room, we switched off the lights, and held each other's hands. We kept quiet for awhile, then giggled nervously because we felt awkward, but then you girls started to tell me how much all of you love me, and want me to remain the same way I am. Then we swapped our feelings and reminders to each other, when we could not hold it any longer, we just wept and had a group hug. That was when I knew why we had to switch of the lights; we just could not bear looking at each other's wet faces due to crying. Malu la...
Fairuz, Alina, Kak Far, korang rahmat Allah buat aku. Persahabatan kita istimewa, cuma Allah yang mampu balas kasih sayang korang buat aku. Sahabat dunia akhirat insya Allah, Amin. (Fairuz, Alina, Kak Far, all of you are Allah's blessings to me. Our friendship is special, only Allah that can return your affection to me. God willing, we will be friends in this world and Hereafter, Amin.)
