Salam,
On this day I did the make-up for the newly wedded wife of my cousin, Angah. His wife Kak Shikin, is a very simple person and she likes her make-up not to be so heavily made-up, and yes it is important for the bride to be comfortable in her own skin. She is so simple, she just wore a beaded Baju Kurung and did not even have a tiara or the desire to do any elaborated hair-do. My sister Deena helped me to do curls for her hair and put a flower in her hair to add a dose of extra sweetness in her appearance for the day. However I wish I could do better make-up for her but the facts that it was an extremely hot day (and the photographers kept rushing in and out of the room making us feel hotter), and also there was no sufficient lighting for me to do her make-up up to my expectation. Yes people complimented my work, but as usual, I wish I could have done better.
Aira with her hair neatly combed and a hairband, and seriously there are some natural coloured blusher, eyeshadow and lipcolour on her
My sis, Nana always with the hand bouquet which was meant for the Bride made by Aunty Lin
The theme colour of this reception was Purple. Nana posed with Misha & Minda, our sweet nieces. Aunty Lin gave me some roses in case if I wanted to use them for Kak Shikin's hair, instead I put them on the hair of my nieces and some other little girls.
Yup it's me & Nana
My nephew Hazim & Minda

While I was focusing my make-up work on Kak Shikin, actually there was another 'make-up artist' in the family, Kak Nurul forcing Angah's sister, Aira to put on some make-up. Aira is the real authentic tomboy in the family, since she was a kid it was a torture for us to ask her to wear anything ladylike. But well well, a surprise to us, this time she didn't run away when Kak Nurul wanted to put on some make-up on her, although she was whining on the bedside and moaned "Oh I hate you Kak Nurul! F**k you Kak Nurul!" but actually she was slightly smiling this time and stayed put on the bedside allowing Kak Nurul to apply colours on her face. :p The secret to how Kak Nurul managed to make Aira gave in was because Kak Nurul said to her that everyone in our big family especially the older folks are now curious about her real sexual orientation, so we must make them think that she is still a girl and is still straight. :p Another funny part was when Kak Nurul told her "Oh come on Aira, we know that you are already ugly, so let's compare whether you would look uglier with make-up or not!" :p Anyways, some time later in the evening Aira admitted that besides being forced by Kak Nurul, she did have the urge to see how she looks with make-up this time. So our Aira is finally becoming a lady in this family :) It was also adorable and funny seeing my nieces who are all so feminine, especially Kak Nurul's daughters Misha & Minda (the M&Ms) kept telling their mama about Aira's new appearance adoringly "Oh doesn't she look sweet Mama?" while Aira grimaced with a tiny smile actually in the corners of her mouth. Indeed Aira, even without make-up you do look sweet and pretty.

I like this one. Instead of having the typical wedding cake as according to the Western tradition, Angah had yellow sticky rice in the form of a cake. Yellow sticky rice, in the Malay culture brings significance to gratefulness on the blessings you receive.

I wore an Abaya borrowed from my sis. I really love the bead work on it.
The celebrated couple enjoying their meal
Angah said he could never really enjoy eating while being a groom because people would be watching his eating habits, but I guess he couldn't care less this time :p
The sweet Kak Shikin & Angah
OK now you know why I didn't use any sweet adjectives about Angah
The loving newly-wedded couple; congratulations Angah & Kak Shikin welcome to the family :)
May Allah bless this union

Looks fun! In the US no one knows modern Muslims exist. Those Saudis give everyone else a bad name.
