Salam,
After I finished my make-up job at Taman Dagang, Ampang, I rushed back home. I had a quick change into my favourite but simple navy blue Baju Kurung and cream Tudung Bawal and headed to Dewan Merak Kayangan Felda, Jalan Semarak with Ummi.
We were attending the wedding ceremony of one of my childhood friends, Fadzlina Karim. She is one year younger than me, which means she's 21 now and it was quite a surprise that she tied the knot so early. Well I knew Fadzlina when I was 7 or 8 like that, played together when we were kids but she went to a different school in Lembah Keramat. We were not really close as we grew older, but I always bump into her mum and have small chats with her if I happen to go to the Surau in our neighbourhood.
Fadzlina's mother came to our house to give the invitation card, and I had made a mental note to attend her wedding although I'm not really close to her but I want to celebrate her big day anyway. When we reached we were greeted warmly by her family, and it's obvious that they had purple and white as the theme colours of the ceremony.
I don't have much to say about the ceremony, but I will explain further according to the photos :)
Family & friends attended the ceremony, many came from my neighbourhood as well.
Ummi & I sat together with Fadzlina's friends from her working place
The tasty traditional dishes served to us. Beef Rendang, Chicken Kurma, Sweet & Sour Fish, Kuah Dalca & Acar Buah.
Dayang-dayangs leading the entourage of the King & Queen of the night
Clad in Songket Baju Kebayas and traditional headgears.
The Bride & Groom, both looking stunning in white. I especially love Fadzlina's wedding dress, white background with colourful embroidery and beadwork.
Such a lovely and adorable bridal dais. It reminds me of something from a fairytale land :) Beautiful colour combination for the fresh flowers decorations, also credit for the adorable chandellier in the middle of the bridal dais.
The children dayang-dayangs danced a few traditional numbers gracefully as entertainment for the guests.
I think that Fadzlina's whole look was absolutely gorgeous. I snapped her photo from where I saw when she noticed me.
She noticed me and started to wave at me next, I waved back like mad haha! I was so ecstatic that after all these years we haven't met, she still remembered me! I'm glad that I went to her wedding to show that I am happy for her :)
Such a gorgeous picture, love the colours, everything.
It's a beautiful wedding, may your mariage be as beautiful till you two meet again in the Next World.
ps* One point I like best and put tears into my eyes was the speech of Haji Karim, Fadlina's father. He did not say much but advised the couple not to neglect the 5 Rukun Islam (Pillars of Islam) especially not to neglect the solat (prayers). It's unusual for a father to only stress on this, but indeed sometimes we tend to ignore that without a strong basis of religious faith, one's marriage might not be blessed by Allah SWT; and of course without his blessings nothing would be meaningful.
I pray that may this union be blessed, Amin ya Rabbal alAmin.
