Salam,
Tonight I am going to bring you to one of our family's favourite Western Food restaurants. This restaurant is special because it is located just at a community food court or Medan Selera thus of course it means that you could get good food at very reasonable prices, and there's no dress code for you to dine Western Food here definitely. =) Oh yes you may enjoy the food indoors with air-conditioner or outdoors by the street.
Though it is a small restaurant, more like a Diner located at a Medan Selera, however you may expect hotel-like food quality and presentation since the owner was a Chef in a 5-Star hotel before he started his own business, this dainty restaurant named Fiske Steakhouse.
You may drive pass PERNEC, Lembah Keramat on your left side and slightly further you will notice the Medan Selera on your right side. You will clearly see Fiske Steakhouse located in front of the Medan Selera.
Fiske Steakhouse offers hotel quality western food, some local food like Satay and also another specialty; its combo of Fish Asam Pedas with rice and hot drink at RM 10.00 only. They also have some cakes but we never tried the cakes yet.
Check out what we had for the night:
Lamb Chops with Black Pepper Sauce and Pasta with Potato and Vege. Ok I can't recall the exact price but it's either RM 15.90 or RM 19.90 only.
Well done, juicy, tender lamb chops combined with a sufficient portion of spaghetti poured with a generous amount of delicious sauce. Fantastico!
Yes their Satay is awesome too. Thick meat (not skinny Satay), well grilled and so juicy and succulent. Great tasty kuah kacang (peanut sauce) too at RM 0.60 per stick.
Fresh Fruit Juice in huge glasses. Heaven!
So people, if you crave for Chef prepared western food, and you do not want to burn a hole in your pocket, Fiske Steakhouse is a great recommendation. =D
Yes just to share with all of you (and actually to express my thousand thank yous to my friends in Makkah, Saudi Arabia).
This year's Awwal Muharram / Ma'al Hijrah surprised me with a call from Pak Yazid (Uncle Yazid), the old man whom I regard like my own father that assisted my family and I when we went for Umrah in 2005 and Hajj end of 2008.
He informed me that the Zahafiz workers in Makkah sent some gifts for me due to Awwal Muharram. Most of them were Makkawi, meaning that their ancestors are not originally Saudis, but they migrated and later born future generations born and bred in Makkah. These guys here are all Makkawi from Pattani, Thailand. Most of them are slightly younger and slightly older than me, and when I was performing Hajj they hung around most of the time at our hotel to do their work with the Hajj agency I was with, Zahafiz. Most of the time we just greeted each other and smiled to each other and sometimes chat a little. So I was really touched that after a year they still remembered me and made an effort to send me these gifts through Pak Yazid. Yes they do phone me once in awhile from Makkah but I really did not expect this. May Allah bless you all.
When I opened it, the first things I saw were chocolates! Haha these guys really wanted to fatten me up more. *LOL*
Ok these are the things they sent to me, as I laid everything on the floor.
Let's check them out one by one.
A beautiful Syrian red praying mat or sajadah. It's so soft and smooth I could shove my face on it haha. Amin told me that he was positive the guys bought this from his store. =)
Dried Apricots. I like these. =)
Tamar/Kurma or Dates. I LOVE DATES. =)
Chocolate stick waffer. Good for munching while watching TV = FAT. Haha!
Yummy assorted chocolates. Ok I know that guys always think that all girls are crazy about Chocolates, however I am an exception. I am a fan of Vanilla but I eat chocolates too sometimes just not crazy about them.
These ones I like! Chocolate with Dates filled Almonds. I just love whenever during Ramadhan ayah purchases the Dates stuffed with almonds. The combination is just something very unique and tasty.
Traditional Arab caked stuffed with dates and sprinkled with sesame seeds. I actually don't like sesame seeds. Ok I hate them actually.

These were the sweetest! Mak Pah (Aunt Pah, Pak Yazid's wife told me before that these guys always called me Suraya with the beautiful Kohl-eyes) and for them to include these traditional Arab Kohls meant so much to me, oh how much they still remember me!
I phoned one of the guys Aiman, and I was positive he blushed when I said thank you. Seriously Pattani guys always sounded very shy whenever they spoke with me. He said of course they will always remember their friends even though we are far. I was touched because they work hard and for them to spend their money, though may not be much but I really appreciate their remembrance for me.
Below are three photos of me and the guys during Hajj season 1429/1430 Hijrah, when we were visiting the Makam of Saidina Hamzah R.A.
I was the one wearing black and green Abaya with 2 female jemaah members. The old chap wearing cap was Pak Yazid, and from him was one of the Pattani guys Dik Me, another Malaysian Zahafiz worker and another Pattani guy Ibrahim.
In this pic from left: The cheeky Ibrahim, Pak Yazid, another Pattani guy Mat Ali who's very shy with me but at time could be funny Mat Ali.
Now in the middle of this photo was Ibrahim's elder brother, Ismail. I just love this photo of Pak Yazid teasing Mat Ali by putting the mineral water bottle on his head. =D
Some other guys not in these pics were Aiman, Rahman Kabo (coz his mum sells Nasi Kerabu and Laksam) and a few others. Thank you all for the sweet gifts. insha Allah when you guys get married please do not forget to invite me and insha Allah I will attend your weddings. If cou guys come to Malaysia, I will be your tourist guide cum driver. Haha I know how you guys feel that it is very strange and unacceptable for women to drive. =D
Ana mushtaqlum! (I miss you all). Illa liqa' fi mustaqbal insha Allah (By Allah's will, we'll meet again in the future). Wassalam.
