Another freak accident happened in Malaysia within a span of a few weeks only. Again, it involved an express bus travelling long distance. I was told by my client that Sani Express belongs to Dato' Sani (he was an artiste, actor cum singer who had a boy/man band with Norman Hakim and another artitste a few years back but now a very successful entrepreneur) was never involved with any road accident, at least none too serious to be reported in the news.
I admit too, because this particular accident that killed 10 passengers including 1 with his/her head amputated astaghfirullah, was navigated by their speed centre as not driving over the permitted speed limit. The one simple but grave offence of the driver was that he was sleepy. So sleepy that he dozed off into slumberland and killed his passengers. Some of them that I read in the newspaper were a couple of elderly husband and wife, two sisters whom one just had had excellent results in her PMR exam and another pair of siblings which the eldest was supposed to start her first job in Putrajaya. Allah knows best however I am truly sorry for them and their loved ones.
When we were heading to the Ipoh Town Hall, we saw the bus and a huge crowd was having a look at it. It was quite creepy to recall that 10 lives were lost just a few hours back on that very vehicle. Thus a reminder to all of you and myself as well, IF ONLY you notice that the driver was nodding off to sleep or yawning continuously, just take a small voluntary effort and have a chat with him, give him a drink or anything just to make him awake.
As what I do when I wanted to ride a bus to JB, I greeted the driver before we leave and asked him nicely not to speed and please always stay fresh and awake. These kind of small reminders, well even if something bad is destined to happen, we have made our effort rather than none and point fingers later.
